JOIN US FOR NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING/CHESTFEEDING WEEK
Hi Yinzers! Jessica Thomas and Kate Csallner of Pittsburgh Born Photography here. We are both photographers in the Pittsburgh area that specialize in birth, maternity, parenthood and newborn photography. Our passion with our particular set of skills is to empower families in their journey into parenthood.
We were HEARTBROKEN last year to have to forgo our 3rd annual group photos. As Covid-19 has dramatically changes all of our lives in the last year it was and continues to be something we both are very cautious about. We feel at this time that our area is doing well enough that we are excited to announce we are bringing back the event! In 2018 we had a dream of photographing a bunch of breastfeeding Pittsburgh parents and their little ones on the Andy Warhol big yellow bridge. We planned, executed and the result was EPIC! Then again in 2019 we moved to Point State Park and had even more families participate. We love doing this for our community, so please join us again or for the first time for another epic photographic moment in our beautiful city of Pittsburgh! Let’s make this year’s photo EVEN BIGGER!!
Color Park
WHAT IS IT?
An invasion of awesome Pittsburgh parents in an epic group feeding photo opportunity in our city! We want to celebrate and empower any parent of the Burgh, even others in different parts of the country.
WHEN IS THE EVENT?
Saturday, July 17th at 8PM at Color Park. We know that can be a bit late for our little ones but we hope you can plan and make an exception for this event. We want beautiful golden sunset photos like you see above! Mini Sessions will take place before the group photo. If you sign up for a mini session we will ask you to come a little bit earlier to the location for your photos! The mini sessions have gone incredibly quickly in the past so please do not hesitate on signing up for those.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR TO PARTICIPATE?
We are looking for parents in and around the Pittsburgh area who are currently breastfeeding, chestfeeding, using any form of human milk giving their children. We recognize that looks different for every family so exclusive pumpers, part-breastfed part formula feeders, tube feeders, etc. are all welcome. We are hoping to attract all forms of parenthood, ages of children, and diversity. We welcome all genders, trans and non-binary parents, races, orientations, ways of life.
WHY DO THIS?
Because it's really awesome! Because it empowers people to feel confident in feeding their babies in public places without fear. Because we like to celebrate YOU.
WHAT DO YOU GET?
Every participant will receive a digital copy of the group photo!
COST:
$0 for the group portion! We want as many people to be able to participate without the stress of a fee and want all parents regardless of their financial situation to have equal opportunity to be a part of our event.
We will have awesome mini-breastfeeding/chestfeeding sessions before the group portion for one-time-only price of $50 for 3 edited digital photos you get to pick with print-release. Additional photos can also be added on for a small additional price at the time your gallery is available.
Covid-19:
Yeah, the elephant in the room… We understand that the pandemic is not over yet and everyone is navigating their way back to a new normal. We want all families to feel comfortable and safe at the event. We encourage anyone who wants to be cautious to feel free to wear a mask while waiting for their mini or group photo, but masks are not required since we will be outside in the open with plenty of space to hang out. We do gather together closely for the group shot but we want to assure you that this group photo typically takes 15 minutes MAX. We just want everyone to be kind to one another and if there is a family who is nearby wearing masks it would be a nice gesture to also wear a mask if you are interacting with them. We are not asking anyone for vaccine status if anyone is concerned about those privacy issues. We will disclose that both Jess and Kate are fully vaccinated, if there is concern about doing a mini session with the photographer being close to you. Let’s respect one another and be considerate of everyone because we are all on different levels of comfort right now with the pandemic.
